16 weeks out!

Hey guys it's been a while. I made a video of me prepping one of my meals but I don't know how to upload through my mobile phone! >_<

I'll try to just move it to my computer and upload it to youtube or something. Anyway, just updating my blog at 16 weeks out from competition.

A "most muscular" pose

I'm happy with my progress, it's a slow and steady fat loss but I am getting leaner. I'm sure once I get closer my carbs will start to go and I will be doing more and more cardio... So you'll see me tighten up a bit. But thankfully my legs are starting to come in early this year and hopefully I keep my muscle mass... after all, I am still getting stronger which is awesome!

Stay tuned for next time! Gotta cook all my chicken breast and ground beef for this week! see yah!

Chicken Breast and all it's GLORY!

Hey guys it's Friday July 22, 2011. I'm currently cooking Chicken Breast right now and I'd thought I'd share with you how I do it. Chicken Breast is the prime food of most bodybuilders. It's high in protein and it's 99% fat free! Holy Cow! So you must be thinking to yourself... hey wait... what's the down side? Well... It's dry and tasteless (compared to thigh meat). So you may be thinking, "How the hell do you eat it EVERYDAY?" Well, off season you can spice it up a bit, maybe cook it with some extra virgin olive oil, a bit of brown sugar, etc... Here's what my chicken looks like while I'm dieting for competition:

Mmmmmm... Dryness.

As you can see I use Mrs. Dash seasoning. Why Mrs. Dash? For starters if you look at the contents, Ms. Dash has: 0 calories, 0g fat, 0g SODIUM, 0g carbs, 0g protein! Holy SMOKES! It tastes awesome as well! I also use my X-large George Foreman grill because it's quick and easy! Chicken Breast is pretty hard to cook on a pan so I usually stick to my foreman grill or oven.
I thought I'd also share with you some recipes and info about chicken breast:
Chicken Breast is 99% lean and contains 6.5g of protein per oz.
Chicken Breast rarely causes bloating for me, or anyone else that I've talked to
Chicken Breast DOESN'T have to suck.... Here's some recipes you may enjoy:

Oven Baked chicken breast:
Line a baking pan with tin foil and PAM spray it.
In a large ziplock bag throw in:
Extra Virgin Olive oil or Macadamia Oil
Your favorite spices (I use garlic salt and lemon pepper)
Parsley

And shake up. Lay the chicken breast flat on the pan and Bake at a pre-heated 350-400. Poke the chicken to make sure it's done, if the juices come out clear then your chicken is ready!

Mr. Kanamori's sugar free bad boy teriyaki bbq chicken breast

Okay guys, feel extra special because I came up with this bad boy on my own through experimentation.
This recipe contains 0g carbs, 0g protein... therefor this recipe is a 0 calorie guilt free choice!

Marinate Chicken Breast in:

Equal parts: shoyu (KIKOMON da best!), water, and GRANULATED SPLENDA (baking kine)
For instance, 2 cups shoyu, 2 cups water, 2 cups splenda (this splenda is 1 cup to 1 cup sugar)
Add to marinade: Chili powder, minced garlic, ponzu (for a tang), squeezed lime (for extra tang)

I usually grilled this recipe but pan fry works or baking works as well!

ENJOY!

By Request: EATS!

@Kaeo for requesting a sample meal (sorry buddy no video yet)

Pre-Workout Meal
Ground Chicken Breast Meal

This is an example of my pre-workout meal (meal you eat before you work out). I'll eat it about .5 to 1 hours prior to working out. I'm not really worried about my sodium intake for now so I can add anything that DOES NOT contain calories (ie. mustard, shoyu, salt, splenda, etc). It's very important prior to strenuous exercise (especially with heavy weights) to eat carbs with my pre-workout meal. This here is Ground Chicken Breast... Pretty gross raw but doesn't taste half bad. 99% lean meat and quite a bit of protein per ounce. I also put in the Kimchee Base because I used it in cooking the Ground Chicken Breast... This shit is AWESOME. I only put in 1 TBSP of this stuff and it PACKS A PUNCH! Even better there's only 1g of sugar for an entire 2 lbs of ground chicken!
More importantly there's vegetables! I eat a good amount of veges with every solid meal like this. Here's a great article about fat loss and vegetables. Take a read if you're interested!

So dieting as you know can be one of the most challenging things people go through... If you ever watch "Extreme Makeover: Weight Loss Edition" you see that most people fail to diet because they're so used to eating their "comfort" foods. Dieting is purely a LIFE STYLE change. Trust me guys, it would be a lot harder for me to continue dieting if I went out every weekend to clubs and dinners!

If you have any questions feel free to ask away!

The introduction and stuff

Goku

Superman, Batman, Spiderman, and He-Man are all prime examples of childhood heroes. My childhood hero is named Goku... A kindhearted alien who is raised by a master martial artist on Earth. I wanted to be EXACTLY like him, BULGING biceps and all! He's my inspiration and the start of my bodybuilding journey (hence the title). I wanted huge muscles, the strength of a thousand men, and more muscle definition then the definitions in your glossary. But alas... I looked like this.
My journey began my senior year in High School. Aaaah yes, a testosterone-fueled age focusing on women and weight training... Those were the days... I was a wee lad then, couldn't have been over 120 lbs. My max bench, which I thought was quite impressive was 185! My goal by the end of the year was to join the 200 club... an ego boosting imaginary club for those who could bench press 200 lbs and over. I trained everyday and didn't know WHAT to eat... so I ate EVERYTHING.

Fast forwarding 3 years... After spending hours a night lurking bodybuilding.com forums I may have gained some weight... Okay, I gained A LOT of weight. I gained 40 lbs since High School and officially joined the ultra cool super sweet 300 club *victory dance* It was then I decided I wanted to do my FIRST Bodybuilding competition. I was going to be just like Goku I thought to myself...

After 12 months of strict and relentless dieting, cardio, and training... It all came down to one night. A night where for the first time in my life... I felt truly alive.
I won 3rd place that night... little did I know that this was to be ONLY the beginning of my Bodybuilding journey... So I present to you my 18 week journey to the Paradise Cup 2011.
